Bamboos I Grow
|
| |
This is a list of all the plants I am currently growing. You can click on the plant name to view a description, picture, (if available) a brief planting history, and comments on my experience growing the plant.
Temperate Clumping Bamboos
As a group, most of these plants are cold hardy, mountain bamboos that are genetically adapted to chilly winters and warm summer days/cool summer nights; cold hardiness ranges between 0 and -20 degrees F. They do not perform well in regions where summer days/nights are very warm.
Temperate Running Bamboos - Medium and Timber
These plants are cold hardy, running bamboos, mostly from the genus Phyllostachys. Sizes for what I call a "medium" bamboo range between 25' - 30' with a culm diamter less than 2". Anything over that, I refer to as a "timber" bamboo. With few exception, cold hardiness for these plants is between 0 and -20 degress F.
Temperate Running Bamboos - Small
These bamboos range betweeen 7' - 20', and are hardy to about 0 degrees F.
Temperate Running Bamboo - Dwarf
These bamboos are between 1' - 3' high, and hardy to about 0 degrees F.
